■ 苦手だった工作 今週の学童ひろばの活動は、牛乳パックを使っての飛行機作りでした！開いた牛乳パックに型をかいて、子どもたちにハサミで切ってもらい、組み立て、ホッチキスでとめて、輪ゴムをつけて飛ばします。大人がつくると３分ほどでできあがり、ものすごくよく飛んで面白い工作の一つです。 ですが、私はひろばの活動の中で、工作活動だけがどうしても苦手でした。というより、子どもの頃から、工作が嫌いでした。それは、クラスのみんなの中で、それぞれアイディアを出して、個性のあるものを仕上げる・・・自分のセンスの無さや、不器用さがみんなに知られるのが恥ずかしくて、いつもまわりの友達を見て、こっそり真似をしていました。センスのある子や、器用な子は工作の時間が楽しそうで、羨ましかったのを覚えています。 ひろばに来ている子どもたちの中にも、「工作」と聞いただけで、「やらへん」という子がいます。工作が嫌いというよりも、自信がない、できるか不安、何作んのかわからん、めんどくさい・・・「やらへん」の裏側には、それぞれ理由があるのだと思います。 ２年前、「ひろばでも工作活動を取り入れよう！」となったとき、正直、気持ちが乗りませんでした。自分が苦手でできひんことを、毎月やっていけるんか・・・と。 でもやるしかない！ でも、どうすれば子どもたちも自分も、たのしく取り組めるか・・・ 完成したものに、「うまい」「下手」「センスがある」「センスがない」が出ないように準備を工夫したらどうやろう？ 型紙を作ったり、キットにしたり、切りやすいように切り込みを入れたり・・・毎月、準備にすごく時間がかかります。 ですが、今日ふっと、 「最近『やらへん』の声、聞かんくなったな・・・」 と思いました。 確かに、不器用で線通りに切れなかったり、力が弱くてホッチキスがうまく留めれなかったり、子どもたちがぶち当たる壁はたくさんあります。 それでも、みんな最後まで作りきって、ビュンッと飛ばして満足そうにしている、そんな姿がたくさん浮かんできます。 「作ってたのしい！」「遊んでたのしい！」「僕にもできた！」「なんや、僕ってすごいやん！」「工作、意外とできるかも！」そんな風に思ってくれていればと思います。 そんなことを考えていると、「次はどんな仕掛けをしてみよう」「どうすればもっとわかりやすく簡単に、おもしろいものができるか・・・」と、自然に考えている自分がいました。 あれだけ気持ちが乗らなかった、苦手だった工作・・・ でも「意外と楽しいかも！私にもできるのかも！」そんなことを思った1日でした。 学童ひろば　　北島 日時 2014年10月24日 18:40 | 固定リンク | コメント (5)
